*The Polyform US Boat Fender Guide is to be used as a general guide. Common sense, as well as an understanding of your boat and mooring conditions, must be considered. The final responsibility has to be taken by the consumer due to many variables out of Polyform's control.

Fender Tips

How to hang boat fenders

Use at least three fenders when docking.

  1. Tie fenders to something solid like a stanchion base or deck cleat along the rail.
  2. Always hang fenders close enough to the surface of the water.
  3. Do not tie the fenders high. This could allow them to swing in a wide arc, causing them to end up on top of the dock rather than between the boat's hull and the dock where they're needed.

Storage

Polyform fenders and buoys should be stored in a safe place out of direct sunlight.

Docking

How to arrange boat fenders for docking

Use at least three fenders when docking.

  1. One fender at aft.
  2. One fender at maximum beam.
  3. One fender at fore.

Rafting

How to arrange boat fenders for rafting
  1. When rafting, the best fendering technique is to have the fenders in place on the boat already moored or at anchor.
  2. Position three standard fenders fairly close to maximum beam.
  3. Position two round A Series or LD Series buoys fore and aft to provide greater protection from boats tossing into each other.
